Ancient  sports and traditionnal games are still practiced in Tahiti.. Sail and outrigger canoe races,stone lifting, javelin throwing, coconut tree climbing,  coconut cutting...are ones of the numerous activities coming from the traditional polynesian know-how.

In July , in Tahiti, it's time for the annual festival that has become emblematic of Polynesian culture, the "Heiva". The "Heiva" comes from the polynesian words meaning "to assemble", it celebrates  traditional polynesian activities, including music, dancing, singing, and sporting events. 

The "Heiva tuaro" (tuaro means sports) is then the competion's season for all those traditionnal sports that takes place during the "Heiva" festival.

All champions of French Polynesia will battle on the 14th, 16th and 17th july this year. Tahitian gastronomy and tahitian dance show will also be offered on site: don't miss that event!

As your guide, TEUAI, is a solid competitor in traditionnal games, he will also perform during the 2016 Heiva Tuaro Festival.

So, exceptionnaly, he proposes three special day tours on the 14th, 16th and 17th of july. After exploring Papenoo valley in the morning and a nice river swim, you will be guided to  the competition sites, near Papeete, in order to know about the backstage of the games and receive all explanations.
